🏆 Faces of Fusion Finalists Announced

The Faces of Fusion Awards are almost here! On Friday, February 7, from 5-8pm, Fusion Saint John will celebrate local rockstars in five categories at the Marco Polo Cruise Terminal.

Here’s who’s in the spotlight this year:
Entrepreneur/Business: Bloom Funding, CORE Health Group, Jeremiah's/Charlotte Street Bakery
Environmental/Sustainability: Nicole Ross, Shaun Hickey, Roxanne MacKinnon
Arts & Culture: Christiana Myers, Saint John Theatre Company, Moonlight Bazaar
Saint John Champion: Julia Wright, Gen Next, Dominique Leger

✹ Got Talent? Show Off What You’ve Got!

Calling all performers, big and small—Got Talent? is coming to the Kent Theatre, and Club Rewind wants to see what you can do! Whether you sing, dance, juggle, tell jokes, or have a talent so unique that people will say, “Wait
 you can really do that?”—this stage is for you. Can you do a duet of Endless Love with a goat? Can you make balloon animals that actually look like animals? Maybe you’ve got the best lip-sync performance of a 90s boy band in the Region—whatever it is, they want to see it! All ages are welcome to participate!

Performances will be held Wednesdays in March at the Kent Theatre, with the audience doing the judging (so get your fans in the seats!). Compete for cash prizes and (more importantly) the chance to be SJ Famous!

MORE COUNCIL & PAC MEETINGS

📋 Town of Hampton Regular Council Meeting

Council resumes in Hampton this evening. Here’s a look at what’s on the agenda:

  • By-Laws Under Review
    Council will hold readings for three by-laws, including a curfew for Hampton (HAM-2025-20) and new rules for public parks and recreation areas (HAM-2025-21).

  • Changes to Garbage Collection
    Jagger Exe will outline updates to garbage collection services in Ward 3, aiming to improve efficiency.

  • Storm Water Management Guidelines
    Guidelines to address stormwater concerns will be revisited as a follow-up to ongoing discussions.

  • Snow Angels Program Request
    A proposal from the "Nursing Home Without Walls" group to support snow removal services for seniors will be considered.

  • Ice Surface Future
    Hampton Minor Hockey Association requests to keep the ice surface at the Community Center after the new Multipurpose Facility opens.

⚖ Quispamsis Planning Advisory Committee Meeting

On the agenda for Monday’s Quispamsis Planning Advisory Committee meeting:

  • Chairperson Election
    The PAC will elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for the 2025 PAC year.

  • Zoning By-law Amendment
    A proposal to amend the zoning by-law regarding dwelling units in detached garages.

  • PAC Variance Review for 2024
    Review of variance applications for the year.

January is flyin’ by! Here are a few things we’re looking forward to later this month.

Dry January Movie Series | January 16, 23, 30
Haven Music Hall is serving up dry vibes and dusty classics this January! Entry is free, with $2 popcorn, discounted beer, and café treats to keep you fueled. Doors at 7:30pm, movies start at 8pm:

  • Jan 16: Tremors (1990) – Giant worms and small-town survival.

  • Jan 23: The Mummy (1999) – Action, adventure, and ancient curses.

Paranormal Investigation of The Union Club | January 18
Step inside the historic Union Club, a Saint John landmark since 1890, for a ghostly adventure through its four magnificent floors. Equipped with paranormal tools and guided by experts in the club’s rich history, you’ll explore tales of lingering spirits and bygone members. Emo Night at Wasted Day | January 25
Dust off your studded belt and checkered Vans to relive your emo glory days at Wasted Day Brewery. Sing, sway, and scream along to all the angst-filled anthems you know and love. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door, and the night runs from 8pm to 11:30pm. Bring the vibes, leave the tears—this event is 19+!

Foggy Docs: The Ride Ahead | January 28
Samuel Habib is 21 and ready for independence—but navigating adult life comes with unique challenges. In this powerful documentary, he turns to America’s leading disability activists for guidance. Winner of multiple awards, including Hot Docs Audience Favourite, this screening at 7:30pm includes a Q&A session with voices connected to the film’s themes. Tickets are $15 + fees. Catch it at the BMO Studio Theatre in Uptown Saint John.
