NEWS NOTES
King Square Gets a Parking Glow Up 🚗
Love diagonal parking Uptown? Good news—we just got more of it! King Square South now offers 26 diagonal metered spaces (double the old parallel lineup) and fresh 15-minute free spots for quick stops. Charlotte Street’s facelift includes sleek brick sidewalks and a new one-lane loop around the square. Early birds can snag prime spots for shows at the Imperial Theatre, while latecomers might find themselves caught in a round-the-Square redo.
The Fundy Rose is Back—Just in Time for a Winter Storm! ⛴️
The MV Fundy Rose resumes service Thursday at 4 p.m., after a lengthy dry dock in Quebec. It's been out of commission since October for maintenance, but of course, it’s back just as a winter storm hits the region. Saint John is expecting snow this morning, turning to rain, with gusty winds reaching up to 80 km/h along the coast. While the ferry’s return is great news, it’s not hard to believe that the first trip from Digby could be cancelled. You can always follow along here if you've got travel plans!
Indigenous Leaders Speak Out on Point Lepreau 🎥
A new video, Askomiw Ksanaqak (Forever Dangerous), sheds light on Indigenous concerns about the Point Lepreau Nuclear Station. Featuring Peskotomuhkati Nation Chief Hugh Akagi and Wolastoq Grand Council Chief Ron Tremblay, the video discusses the lack of consultation with local communities about nuclear power and its environmental risks. The video highlights the dangers of nuclear waste and calls for more respect for Indigenous voices in decisions affecting their lands. Produced by St. Thomas University’s CEDAR project, the video includes some compelling footage. Watch the full video online. (NB Media Co-op)
