NEWS NOTES
Boardwalk Patios Stuck in Limbo šŗ
Itās been six months since the new all-season patios at Market Square were unveiled, and despite a promising start in June, restaurant owners are still waiting for full approval. After a brief closure by the provincial fire marshal, the patios have been open, but key featuresāincluding heaters and approved furnitureāare still out of reach.
For Jesse Vergen and the Saint John Ale House, itās been a test of patience. āThe finish line keeps moving,ā he says. āAs we approach the holiday season, weāre stuck in limbo, and itās frustrating for both us and our customers.ā
The heaters that were meant to make the patios usable year-round are still waiting for final installation, with work expected to finish by the New Year. But with no clear timeline for full approval, restaurants are left wondering when theyāll finally be able to put those fancy new patiosāand their eventsāinto action. (CTV)
