NEWS NOTES

Courthouse to Curtain Calls 👏

The Atlantic Repertory Company will soon have a new home in Uptown Saint John! Public funding was announced yesterday to begin renovations of the Sydney Street Courthouse, transforming it into a new performing arts centre. A total of $12 million from the federal government and $818,000 from the city will support the creation of a facility featuring a 250-seat theatre, rehearsal space, and a secondary performance area. Look forward to more vibrant performances in the city! (CTV Atlantic)

Slow ‘er Down, Bud! 🚧

Saint John is getting a dozen more speed cushions in 2025 to make residential streets safer. This week, council approved $450,000 for the project, responding to constant pleas from residents concerned about speeding. The streets set to receive these wide, raised road sections, which help slow traffic, include Champlain Drive, Prince Street, Wellesley Avenue, Boars Head Road, Green Head Road, and Mountain View Drive. Trail Mix in Quispamsis 🏞

Fall strolls just got even better with the completed upgrades on the walking trail between Natureview Drive and Valleyview Drive in Quispamsis! Thanks to a $15,000 grant from Trans Canada Trail, the path has been raised to prevent flooding, and additional rocks have been added to strengthen the riverbank. This means this popular trail is now safe and ready for you to enjoy!

Advertise with us and catch local eyes (and a few sips of morning coffee) at 6 am sharp.
