👽 No, Aliens Are Not Invading.

Good morning Port City, this is SJ Today - the local newsletter letter that is quickly becoming the worst kept secret in town, but you knew about it first.

Here are today’s revelations:

  • Your phone is gonna make some noise this morning 📱

  • Shop local without even leaving your house this holiday season 🛍️

  • Moss Glen Legion will be bumpin’ this weekend 👊

NEWS NOTES

Don’t Panic, It’s Only a Drill! 🚨

Heads up! Today, at 10:55 AM, your phone is about to get a workout with a national test of the Alert Ready system. Don’t worry, it’s not an alien invasion or a 90s techno revival (although we’d be on board for that). It’s just a test!

The Alert Ready system sends life-saving info through TV, radio, and your phone. So when you hear that unmistakable tone, don’t panic—it’s only a test (unless you’re still using a flip phone, then... maybe it’s time to upgrade).

Got a minute? Take a quick survey to help improve the system—but please, don’t call 911 for non-emergencies. Stay safe, stay aware, and remember, your phone’s superpower is real.

Shop Uptown, Have It Delivered 🚚

Shopping local just got easier—Uptown shops are coming to your door! From now through December, shop ‘til you drop (your phone, or maybe your coffee) and have those fabulous finds delivered straight to your home. No pants required! 🛋️

Here’s the scoop - Spend $25 at participating Uptown businesses, and Uptown SJ will bring your goodies right to your doorstep in Saint John, Quispamsis, Grand Bay, and Lorneville. And remember, no fresh baked good deliveries—only non-perishables!

So, check with your favs, shop ‘til you drop, and let Uptown SJ handle the heavy lifting—literally. Also, please wear pants when the delivery shows up…

The Mrs. Roper Rumble 🏠

Come and knock on our door—this party’s for you! Saturday night the Moss Glen Legion in Kingston is the place to be for the grooviest party of the year! The Mrs. Roper Rumble invites you to break out your best kaftan, channel your favourite sitcom vibes, and join a night packed with late ‘70s and early ‘80s music, a Regal Beagle cash bar, snacks, prizes, a photo booth (courtesy of Reed’s Point Pub & Grill), and even a chance to paint your own martini glass. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds supporting breast cancer patients.

The event benefits the Erin Appleby Breast Health Fund, created in memory of Erin Appleby, a Hampton High graduate who passed away from breast cancer at just 30. Managed by the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, the fund helps patients cover household expenses during treatment. Over 10 years, Denise Miller and her amazing team of volunteers have raised over $100,000 to support this cause.
