🚨 4 Cops & A Concert

Good morning, Saint John! Not usually one for superstition, but last night’s drive home - odd traffic, pedestrians popping up in all the wrong places - had me wondering. Checked the moon phase, and sure enough, the full moon starts today… along with what feels like a million other things happening! ☕

Here’s what has our attention this morning:

  • New police quick response team 👮

  • Area 506 lineup reveal 🤘

  • Tourism & hospitality job fair today 🛄

Happy Thursday!

NEWS NOTES

🚀 The Wait Is Over - AREA 506 Lineup Drops Today!

Hope your boss isn’t expecting much from you today, because starting at 9am AREA 506 is rolling out its 10th anniversary lineup - two bands every hour until 5pm. That’s eight hours of frantic refreshing, wild speculation, and saying, “Oh yeah, I love them!” about bands you just Googled. Stay tuned, make your predictions, and prepare for the group chat chaos!

🚔 Police Quick Response Team Hits Uptown

A new Quick Response Team (QRT) is now patrolling uptown and Waterloo Village, with four officers dedicated to the area full-time.

On foot and in marked vehicles, they handle crime response, traffic enforcement, and community outreach, getting to know businesses, residents, and the homeless population to build trust and improve safety. With a focus on visibility and faster response times, they’ll be a regular presence in the neighbourhood.

They’ve been on the streets for two weeks, so expect to see them around. ($)

🖼️ Local Art Gets a Permanent Home in Saint John

Whether you're an art aficionado or just a pro at the thoughtful nod, good news - Saint John just added three stunning new pieces to its Art Bank Collection!

Three fresh works from local artists are now part of the city’s official collection, meaning they’re far too lovely to be stuck to your fridge with a magnet.

  • Amy Ash’s Nourishing the Feeling is a dreamy cyanotype print exploring queer identity, connection, and collective care.

  • Sarah Wilson’s A Place of Rest captures cormorants on a local wharf that has since been demolished for safety reasons.

  • Melinda Sheehan’s The Guesthouse is a nostalgic look at those in-between spaces we all pass through.

All three pieces now have a forever home in the city’s art collection, showing some much needed love in support its creatives.
