NEWS NOTES
Zippinâ Around the Port City in 2025 đ
Saint Johnâs ridesharing scene is about to get a shake-up! Zippy, a New Brunswick-based service, is gearing up to hit our streets in January, bringing some fresh competition to Uride, our trusty option for the past year.
Founder Sash Selvaratnam says Zippyâs not just about ridesâitâs a two-for-one deal, also offering on-demand deliveries. Need a quick lift or a forgotten lunch dropped off? Zippyâs on it.
Already rolling in Moncton, Fredericton, and beyond, theyâre now hiring drivers in Saint John. Selvaratnam sums it up perfectly: âThink Uber, but New Brunswick-style.â
Looks like 2025 could be the year Saint Johners get to pick their rideâand their rivalry. Game on! (CHSJ)
Help Shape the Future of Your Community đ
Ready to trade Netflix marathons for something a little more meaningful in the new year? Serving on a provincial agency, board, or commission (ABC) is your chance to get off the sidelines and shape the future of our community.
These roles are about bringing your skills and ideas to the table to tackle real challenges and spark real change. Plus, youâll meet some inspiring people who care as much about our city and province as you doâand earn a leadership badge for your efforts.
Provincial opportunities are open now, and thereâs something for everyone. Why not start 2025 with a commitment that truly counts? Check out the current openings and take your seat at the table.
Local Artists, Itâs Your Time to Shine at Union House! đ»
Ready to tap into your creative side? Union House by Trailway is looking for someone to bring their taproom to life with a mural thatâs as fun, bold, and bright as a cold pint of your favorite brew!
If your art can pack as much punch as their Hu Jon Hops IPA, this is your chance to make your mark (literally) on Union Street scene. Whether youâre into bright colors, bold lines, or just making things hop in a fresh way, they want to see your portfolio.
So, if youâre ready to paint the town (or at least the taproom) and bring the fun to life, send your work in. And make sure to send us a pic of the final product!
Coleson Cove Gets the Green Light for Another Five Years đ
Coleson Cove Generating Station just scored a five-year renewal on its air quality approval, keeping the power flowingâand the debates simmering.
NB Powerâs Saint John facility cranks out electricity by burning heavy fuel oil and petroleum coke, with three boilers capable of producing a whopping 350 megawatts each. After a public review and consultation process, the provincial government says itâs good to go until 2029.
Want the nitty-gritty? Check out the Department of Environmentâs site for all the details. For now, Coleson Cove keeps powering up! (GNB)
