NEWS NOTES

šŸŽ‰ Family Day Fun (and Whatā€™s Closed!)

Monday is Family Day, which means a mix of fun activities and closed doorsā€”so plan ahead! While thereā€™s plenty happening around town (see Whatā€™s Happeninā€™ below), most municipal buildings are taking the day off, including the Saint John City Market. All ANBL stores are closed, but some agency locations will be open. In Saint John, garbage and compost collection will run as usual.

šŸ‘‰ Weā€™ll be taking the day off too, but donā€™t worryā€”weā€™ll be back in your inbox with a fresh issue on Tuesday. Enjoy the long weekend!

šŸ† Maestro Fresh Wes Receives 15th JUNO Nomination!

In case you havenā€™t heard, local resident and by far Saint Johnā€™s most requested M.C., Maestro Fresh Wes, has just scored his 15th JUNO nomination! With 14 previous nods, 2 wins (including Rap Recording of the Year and Best Video), and a spot in the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, this time around Wes is up for Childrenā€™s Album of the Year with Young Maestro "Rhyme Travellers". Proving that the same lyrical legend who brought us Let Your Backbone Slide is still schooling the next generation with his rhymes.

The 54th Annual JUNO Awards are taking over Vancouver on March 30, hosted by Michael BublƩ, with a final JUNO performance from Sum 41(oh, hi guys, thanks for coming out). Catch it live on CBC or CBC Gem, and cheer on Maestro to bring home another trophy to add to his already impressive collection!

šŸŒæ Quispamsis Seeks Volunteers for Ritchie Lake Committee

Quispamsis is looking for volunteers to join the new Ritchie Lake Community Advisory Committee, which will help guide conservation efforts, recommend budget priorities, and support community outreach for the lake. The nine-member group will include local residents, environmental experts, and town officials. Applications are open until Friday, March 14, at 5pm and will be reviewed by the townā€™s Nominating Committee. The initiative stems from a recent town study on the lakeā€™s ecological health.

šŸ“ On Wednesday, we hit the trails and put your local knowledge to the test. Admittedly, this one was tough - it couldā€™ve been any of the incredible hikes in our region! But we dropped a little hint, telling you to take a chop at itā€¦ and the answer? Spruce Lake on the west side!

Big shoutout to Gina Wilkins in Rothesay for a solid guess! Weā€™ll snap another mystery spot on our local travels for next Wednesdayā€™s issue so stay tuned!
