NEWS NOTES
✈️ Flair Flights Take Off Early from YSJ
Good news for anyone dreaming of a Toronto weekend, a Blue Jays game, or just cheaper flights out of town…Flair Airlines is firing up its Saint John-Toronto route earlier than expected! Starting April 25, the budget-friendly airline will be back at YSJ, offering non-stop flights to Hogtown. Whether you're visiting family, escaping for a concert, or just need a reason to dust off that carry-on, Flair’s got your ticket. Flights are on sale now, so if you’ve been waiting for a sign to book that trip, this is it!
🦠 Tiny Invaders in the River
Boating season isn’t far off, but some unwelcome stowaways are already here…zebra mussels. These invasive little troublemakers have been found near Mactaquac, and while they haven’t reached Saint John (yet), scientists are a little concerned. They spread fast by hitching rides on boats, clogging pipes, and messing with local ecosystems. The best defence once the season kicks off? Clean, drain, and dry your boat before launching. The goal is to keep our waters mussel-free.
👏 Local Trailblazers Honoured
Big applause for three Saint John-area changemakers who just took home provincial VIVE Awards for their work in advancing gender equality! Mary Schryer of Quispamsis was named Government Champion, while Saint John high schoolers Tatiana Medrano (SJHS) and Melody Ovuakporoyecha (St. Mac’s) earned recognition for their dedication. The awards celebrate bold voices making real change, and it looks like our region is raising some of the best.
