NEWS NOTES
🏠Scared of Your Property Assessment? You’re Not Alone
Property assessment notices are coming in hot later this month and for many homeowners, that means it's time to play the game of “How Much Did They Really Think My House Was Worth?” If you’re looking for a way to deal with the stress (or just want to make sure you're not being overcharged), Jerry Iwanus, former assessor with Service New Brunswick, claims he’s got the answers—and he’s not shy about it!
Jerry's written "TAXING NEW BRUNSWICK: An Insider’s Guide to Successfully Challenging Your NB Property Assessment", where he reveals how the system really works and how you can challenge your assessment like a pro. No more guessing games—just the facts.
Want the full breakdown? You’re in luck. Jerry’s hosting two local events: Saint John Free Public Library on January 9th and Kenebecasis Public Library on January 14th. Come learn how to fight back against unfair assessments and maybe even save some cash along the way!
🚦 Charlotte Street Getting Lit
Starting today, Charlotte Street is taking a five-day snooze between Union and King Streets. Why? The City is installing shiny new traffic lights at King Square North—because traffic flow is about to get a glow-up.
Here’s the scoop: The street is closed 24/7 for through traffic, but don’t worry—you can still hit up Heroes’ Beacon, Loyalist City Books & Coin, Core Health Group, Freddy’s Pizza, and the City Market. Detour signs will steer you right, and sidewalks are wide open if you’re on foot.
With a little luck (and a lot of hard hats), we’ll be back to cruising around King Square in no time.
