Good morning Saint John, itā€™s Friday and the whole weekend is ahead of you! Also, if youā€™re unsure whatā€™s on the menu for supper tonight, itā€™s Fettuccine Alfredo dayā€¦so thatā€™s sorted. šŸ˜‹

Hereā€™s the lowdown for the day:

  • Lather up the TV with some local comedy šŸ«§

  • Park(ing) debate heats up on the west side šŸŖØ

  • What was the hottest link of the week? šŸ”„

Here we go!

Jaymee at Loch Lomond Mitsubishi is obsessed with the RVR. Why? Because itā€™s built for NB roads, sips gas like a hybrid (without the hybrid price tag), and, oh yeah, her 6ā€™5ā€ son fits inside with room to spare.

Once a year, general manager Fred lets her slash prices on the Guiness World Record holding RVR, and that time is now. Every new RVR is marked down, and biweekly payments start at just $203 ALL IN ā€”even less if you already drive a Mitsubishi. See the RVR deals.

āœ… All-wheel control
āœ… Packed with features even in the base model
āœ… Safe, stylish, and crazy affordable

Thatā€™s a brand-new, winter-ready SUV for less than most people spend on takeout. And for that price, youā€™re getting the best SUV on gas in the Country, advanced safety tech, a backup camera, touchscreen display, and heated seatsā€”and thatā€™s just the base model.

RVR Days end this month. Shop RVR Days before theyā€™re gone.

NEWS NOTES

šŸ§¼ A Saint John Car Wash Comedy Ready to Shine

Saint Johnā€™s getting the sitcom treatment with Car Wash Wars, a five-episode comedy premiering this today on Fibe TV1.

The series follows Kayla Polley, played by Kristyn Green, as she takes over her fatherā€™s manual car wash, located at Haymarket Square, only to find herself up against a wealthy but insecure oligarch, Mr. Dulse (Jimmy MacKinley), and his automated competition. Expect bionic arms, Loyalist legends, molasses-covered cars, and a Bricklin!

Co-produced by Saint Johnā€™s Paratactic Pictures (Steven Suntres) and Frederictonā€™s Cazador Inc. (Sandy Hunter), the series was directed by Bruce LeGrow. From a half-cooked idea to a full-blown, suds-soaked Saint John showdown, this oneā€™s packed with local quirks, weird history, and all.

šŸžļø Council to Weigh In on Irvingā€™s Parking Plan

The push for a 550-spot parking lot in Wolastoq Park is moving to council, with city staff still raising concerns over traffic at Simms Corner and the loss of parkland. Irving Pulp & Paper says the lot is critical for its $1.1B NextGen project, replacing lost mill parking. The planning committee has already given it the green light, now itā€™s up to council to decide. A public hearing is coming, and debate is sure to follow. Get up to speed with this great rundown from CBC

šŸ•Šļø Hampton Community Centre Renamed in Honour of Mike Murphy

Big changes are coming to the Hampton Community Centre.  As the town gears up for expanded recreation options, the building will soon be transitioning into the Mike Murphy Memorial Field House. Mike, who passed away in 2008, was a community leader and the driving force behind local hockey leagues, youth programs, and even coached RCMP teams.

A long-time resident, former Deputy Mayor, and real estate professional, Mikeā€™s contributions to Hampton were immeasurable. Now, as the community grows, his legacy will live on in a building that will bring people together, just like he did.
