NEWS NOTES

🎉 Saint John Rings in 2025 with the First Baby of the Year!

Saint John kicked off 2025 with a bang—and no, it wasn’t fireworks. It was baby Aliana, who made her grand entrance into the world at 12:14 a.m. on January 1st, earning the title of Horizon Health’s first baby of the year!

Aliana was born at the Saint John Regional Hospital and we’re pretty sure she’s already planning on making 2025 her best year yet. After all, how many people can say they kicked off the new year with such a splash?

👶 2024's Top Baby Names Are In!

And speaking of babies… last year, Noah and Charlotte took the crown as the most popular names for babies born in New Brunswick. A total of 5,822 babies were born in the province between January 1st and December 15th, with those two names leading the pack. Close behind were Liam, Oliver, and Amelia, making their mark on the year. Other popular choices included Henry, Jack, Olivia, Elizabeth, and Ellie. Looks like these names are here to stay—and with little Aliana already making her debut as the first baby of 2025, maybe she’ll be the trendsetter for this year!

🏒 Sea Dogs Drop the Gloves on Ticket Prices

The Sea Dogs are showing fans their best celly for their 20th season with a pretty sweet deal. Adult tickets for all remaining home games are now $20 flat—taxes and fees included. Yep, that’s less than we usually spend on hotdogs at the game (but no judgment if you still go for the fries or ice cream).

And just to keep the good vibes rolling, TD Station is serving up $6 drinks during Happy Hour from doors open until puck drop. Beer, wine, coolers—it’s like they knew we needed a warm-up for cheering.

🎭 Join the Fun with Lend Me a Tenor!

Want to be part of the action? Saint John Theatre Company is looking for crew members to bring Lend Me a Tenor to life! Whether you’ve got skills or just want to be part of the magic, join their info session on January 5th at 12 noon at 112 Princess Street.

And if you’d rather be on stage, auditions for the hilarious comedy are January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Get the details on the crew call and auditions here.
